Question: How does in home therapy work?

Answer

A RBT will come to your home to work with your child. You, or a designated caregiver (who must be 18 or older), remain at home. The caregiver is welcome to participate in session! Sessions look different based on the need of your child. For example, for younger kids sessions are more play based. For older kids, sessions may involve a mix of play learning with some learning at the table.

Question: What grants and scholarships do you take?

Answer

For Florida residents, we are partnered with the Step Up for Students (SUFS) scholarship. Please review the SUFS website to see if your child will qualify for this scholarship. There are other smaller grants/scholarships your child may qualify for. Feel free to reach out to Hallie Ertel at Hallie.Ertel@Atlanticcoastaba.com to discuss more options

Question: Can I participate in my child's therapy session?

Answer

We strongly encourage caregivers to participate in their child's in home therapy sessions. In fact, Atlantic Coast ABA requires a certain percentage of caregiver involvement in therapy hours. Research shows that caregiver involvement leads to better outcomes for your child!

Question: Can you provide an autism diagnosis for my child?

Answer

As behavior analysts and registered behavior technicians we cannot diagnose autism. To obtain a diagnosis you'll need to contact a diagnosing provider. Children can receive autism diagnostic testing though their developmental pediatrician, clinical psychologist, pediatric neurologist, among others. A good place to start is by talking to your local pediatrician.

Question: Can I request a combination of in home and in school ABA?

Answer

Yes, if your child is struggling in both the home and school setting, we can set up services to occur in both locations. However, make sure to check with your insurance carrier that they allow for ABA services in school.

Question: Can I request in school only ABA?

Answer

At Atlantic Coast ABA we require in home therapy component for services. You can request a majority of ABA take place in the school, but we do require in home therapy to ensure that both staff and caregivers are implementing the child's individualized treatment plan appropriately. Additionally, providing services across locations is shown to better promote generalization of skills. Which means your child will most likely have better success learning skills across a variety of people, places, and situations.

Question: Who will work with my child?

Answer

A team of one Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and a few Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT's) will work with your child. A BCBA is a credentialed professional who has obtained their master's degree in the field of behavior analysis, undergone extensive supervision experience, and passed rigorous testing. BCBA's require ongoing continued education training to keep their certification up-to-date. A RBT is a paraprofessional in behavior analysis. Starting in 2026 the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) will also require RBT's to pursue continued professional development training to keep their certification.

The BCBA acts as the "architect" of the team in developing the treatment plan, updating goals along the way, conducting caregiver training, and providing supervision to the RBT's. RBT's provide the direct client care and data collection.
